Calvert County Democratic

Women's Club

Patsy Takemoto Mink, a Democrat from Hawaii, was the first woman of color and the first Asian-American woman elected to Congress. An attorney and champion of women's rights, she coauthored Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in education. Title IX was later renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act after her death in 2002.

We are Democratic women of Calvert County working together to make our county, state, and country the best they can be.

We are #DonkeyStrong

Since 2016, the Calvert County Democratic Women’s Club has

  • grown from 11 active members to over 114
  • established a Democratic presence at annual community events
  • awarded 27 scholarships to local students
  • donated over 1,000 pounds of food to local food banks
  • collected over $1,000 of items to send to the troops overseas
  • donated sanitary pads to incarcerated women
  • donated school supplies to children in need in Calvert County

We were a Democratic presence at every precinct in the 2018, 2020, (and now 2022) elections:

  • staffing tents at early voting and on election day
  • phone-banking
  • canvassing
  • showing Calvert Democrats that we are here and we are working for a better Calvert!
We were part of an effort that saw Calvert Democratic participation increase 17.19% in 2018 as compared to the 2014 midterms.
