The following is shared from a member's local church newsletter:

The Racial Wealth Gap: Rooted in Land and Home Ownership.

The Big Conversation Partners are excited to announce their 2024 Community Forum. This in-person session is on Sun, Jan 28, 2-5 p.m, at Middleham & St. Peters Parish Hall in Lusby.

Pre-registration is required at https://bit.ly/WealthGap24.  (Snow date Sun, Feb 4.)

This forum is all about the challenges faced by so many people in Southern Calvert, many of whom come to SMILE for assistance. We constantly hear the phrase “wealth gap” in the media, but what is it? Why is it important to the health of our nation and our local community? Who falls into the wealth gap? Why does it exist and what can we do about it? Why bring home and land ownership into the discussion? Are there local attitudes and behaviors that exacerbate the problem? Diane Davies, Chair, Big Conversation Partners in Dismantling Racism and Privilege in Southern Maryland, Middleham & St Peters Parish, bigconmsp@gmail.com, 410-610-2825
