At our April 2021 meeting, we voted to have the CCDWC added to a list of supporters of the Harriet Elizabeth Brown Community Center and Park. This facility will bring needed recreational resources to our county and Prince Frederick in particular.
Now the HEB Task Force really needs your help--and all you need to do is send a few emails.
The following is excerpted from an email from from Margaret Dunkle, head of the task force:
Thank you for your continuing support of the HEB CC&P. Prince Frederick desperately needs this new resource – and we can all be proud to honor our own Calvert County hero.
We need your help to keep things on track. The Board of County Commissioners is considering an approach that would ensure the HEB CC&P moves ahead now. Yesterday, at a Public Hearing, staff presented a “Budget Adjustment” to set aside $6 million already on hand to support planning and construction for the Harriet Elizabeth Brown Community Center & Park.*
The Hearing record is open for public comment (that's you!) until next Friday, May 14.
Please take a minute to email our County Commissioners and responsible staff: commiss@calvertcountymd.gov, John.Norris@calvertcountymd.gov, Timothy.Hayden@calvertcountymd.gov
Say something like:
I strongly support the Department of Finance & Budget’s staff recommendation to allocate $6 million for the Harriet Elizabeth Brown Community Center & Park. I urge the County Commissioners to vote “yes” to approve Budget Adjustment #BA076CIP.
Your voice will make a difference for Calvert citizens, kids and families – and lock in funding for the Harriet Elizabeth Brown Community Center & Park!
CCDWC members and friends, let's do what we can to help move this project forward. It's not a big ask!
