    From Club President Cindy Yoe:

    Hi, Everyone,

It might seem early, but it is time to once again sign up to help staff our tent at the County Fair.  With everyone's busy schedules, it does take several months to get enough volunteers.

This is an important year for us because we want residents of Calvert to know that the Democrats are always here, not just in election years. Also, fingers crossed, we might have a better location this year.

Please click the link below, select a date and time, and sign up to volunteer.

    Calvert County Fair volunteer sign-up

    Thanks, In advance.

Christmas in April is an organization that matches volunteers with homeowners in need of home repairs.  Under the tutelage of our House Captain John Yoe, CCDWC volunteers helped make repairs to a house for the Jones family of Huntingtown.

Club members (with the help of professionals) undertook such tasks as cleaning gutters, repairing a downspout, replacing baseboard heaters, repairing a loose toilet, fixing a bathtub drain, installing storm doors, painting the foundation, mulching, and trimming bushes.

Steny Hoyer stopped by to check on our progress.  The Calvert Recorder covered his visit.

It was a VERY windy day, but the club got a lot accomplished, and volunteers learned a lot in the process. It was a fun and rewarding day.

The Board of County Commissioners relies on the input from citizen volunteer advisors to make decisions. If you want to influence local county government, but don't want to run for office, this is an excellent way to ensure our county reflects your values.
