If you'd like to donate food

Joy Hill, who is coordinating this effort, will be accepting donations at the Boys and Girls Club in North Beach from 11 am to noon on Saturday, May 2. Local families will be picking up food from noon to 2pm. This may be done weekly; please check their Facebook Page for updated information.

The address is 9021 Dayton Ave, North Beach, MD 20714

"Bring food, and other basics for immediate delivery to families in the Beaches who have slipped through the safety net.

Canned goods, apples, bananas, pasta, salad stuff, rice... We already have some sealed frozen meat donated!!

This will buy us time to see if there is some way to get these folks services. Nine families need everything, and many others need a bit of help to make it.

Contactless, place the food on the curb and we will smile and wave from at least 6 feet away."

Call Ms. Hill at the Boys and Girls Club (301) 379-4876 or email her at if you have questions or would like to donate at another time.

If you'd like to donate money

For cash or check donations, please call or email Ms. Hill at the Boys and Girls Club directly.

Both the Calvert County Health Department (effective Thursday, April 16) and Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (effective Saturday, April 18) are requiring face coverings to be worn while shopping and in certain other circumstances. See below for details. These actions will protect the health and safety of our fellow citizens. Please read on for details.

    From The BayNet:

Calvert County Requires Face Coverings to be Worn While Shopping

And from the Governor's web site:

"FACE COVERINGS ORDER: Governor Hogan announced an executive order which requires the wearing of face coverings when inside any retail establishments or when riding any form of public transportation in Maryland. The order also requires all retail locations to require staff to wear face coverings and requires those businesses to put appropriate social distancing measures in place. To give retailers time to make these adjustments, the order will go into effect Saturday, April 18 at 7 a.m. The CDC has issued detailed guidance and instructions regarding homemade cloth face coverings which can be found at"

     Read the Governor’s order.

From the Calvert County Election Board:

"The June 2nd primary will be conducted largely by mail. We will send each eligible, active voter a ballot. They do not need to apply for a ballot unless they want it sent to a different address than what is on file or if they want it electronically.

We are encouraging voters to check their voter registration record online to ensure that their address is correct.

The mail-in ballot return envelope will have pre-paid postage. We will also have a drop box available outside of our office in the parking lot. I expect to have it by May 21st but do not have a definitive date.

Additionally we will have limited in-person voting on Election Day itself. This is for voters who need additional assistance or did not receive a ballot as well as for same day registration.

There will be one vote center for Calvert County. It will be in the same building as our office, which is normally our early voting site (30 Duke St, Prince Frederick)."

Calvert County Election Board, 30 Duke St – Lower Level, PO Box 798, Prince Frederick, MD 20678

Read the proclamation that the Governor signed on April 10th.

    Dear members and friends,

The Calvert County Health Department is asking us to limit our shopping trips to once every 5 days on an alphabetical schedule to help stop the spread of COVID-19. You can read the post here.  This is voluntary but suggested to cut down on crowding and waiting in line due to social distancing measures in the stores.

Also, there is an app called Prepare Me Calvert which you can use to receive alerts on this and other topics. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
